What We Think

The Lynx Aurora(n) is a profound reimagining of their original Aurora converters, which have been one of THE most trusted converters in professional studios for the past decade. The new units feature upgraded A/D and D/A converters utilizing the same technology that led the Hilo to the front of the pack. With modular connectivity via Lynx's existing (and expanding) selection of L-Slot cards you don't have to worry about these units becoming obsolete like that old firewire interface you used 5 years ago. Aurora(n)'s come in 8, 16, 24 and 32 channel varieties and are upgradable to add mic preamps, analog summing and additional digital I/O.

Lynx Aurora(n) Series - First Impressions

In this video, Sound Pure Pro Audio specialists Marc Kuzio and Chuck Giardino introduce the Lynx Aurora(n) Series of converters. This new generation of Aurora converters has blown us away with its level of detail, functionality, and ease of installation. It can also be used seamlessly with the previous generation of Lynx Auroras.

Manufacturer's Description from Lynx

With a total of 16 ins (8 preamp ins plus 8 line ins) and 8 line outs, the Aurora(n) PRE 1608

TB comes with two LM-PRE4’s and Thunderbolt connectivity.

The LM-PRE4 is sonically matched for the Aurora(n) with all the transparency, detail and flexibility you’ve come to expect from Lynx.  The convenience and utility of this new high performance preamp not only compliments the interface, but when combined with the Aurora(n)’s built in microSD recorder the LM-PRE4 transforms the Aurora(n) into a stand-alone mobile recording device. Each LM-PRE4 module not only adds the flexibility of four channels of mic/line/Hi-Z inputs, but also adds an additional four channels of A/D conversion.
