Sound Pure's Take

This 5.0 XP is the largest sounding McPherson on our wall. If you are looking for a McPherson with great low end response, then this is the guitar for you. The Macassar Ebony provides amazing low-end clarity and focus. The Port Orford top gives very nice overtones with a silky smoothness that is not harsh. Like all McPhersons, the setup is incredible. They have one of the most playable neck profiles out there. Comfy for strumming and playing lines all day long. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this guitar or any others in our fine inventory.

From McPherson Guitars

Top: Port Orford Cedar

Back and Sides: Striped Macassar Ebony

Despite its name, Port Orford Cedar is a member of the cypress family and not a true cedar. It falls tonally between spruce and cedar, leaning toward a warm spruce top in sound and stiffness.

Striped Macassar Ebony is a very dense and heavy tonewood from Southeast Asia. Macassar Ebony features a robust and loud tone much like rosewood, with great clarity.
