This Taylor is firmly in excellent shape and you'll really be happy with how it's playing right now! The 12 fret design definitely gives this a different sound than you might be expecting from Taylor and I'm surprised at the balance in the lows/highs on this model! The Lutz spruce top is very sensitive and responds well if you're using your fingers for more delicate playing but the guitar is also great if you're using a pick and want something that won't get muddy when your right hand attack increases. I really love the sound here, it reminds me of Taylor crossed with another familiar name in acoustic guitars and has an overall balance that I like alot. If you want a dependable guitar that looks GREAT for its' age then give us a call about this superb Taylor 712!
On Taylor’s 12-fret Grand Concert models, the shorter neck meets the body at the 12th fret rather than the 14th, and the bridge position is shifted closer to the center of the lower bout. The result is a boost in tonal warmth and power. That response is also bolstered by the Lutz spruce top used on the 700 Series. Together with rosewood back and sides, players can expect a broad and articulate tonal range. The compact Grand Concert body emphasizes clarity and balance, and helps keep the overtones in check, making this a great option for recording both solo and with other instruments. The 24-7/8-inch neck adds slinky comfort to the playing experience. Wood-rich aesthetic details include Hawaiian koa binding, a herringbone-style rosette featuring Douglas fir with maple/black accents, and bias-cut Douglas fir top trim, while a new “weathered brown” pickguard design complements the earthy color tones of the rosewood and wood trim. Taylor’s onboard ES2 electronics supply a top-notch pickup and preamp for impeccable amplified acoustic tone.

Renowned for blending modern, innovative manufacturing techniques with a master craftsman's attention to detail, Taylor guitars are widely considered among the best-sounding and easiest to play in the world. The company was a pioneer in the use of computer mills, lasers and other high-tech tools and proprietary machinery, and today, Bob Taylor is widely recognized throughout the musical instrument industry as the visionary acoustic guitar manufacturer. Among the company’s many innovations are its patented Taylor Neck, the first major innovation in the construction of the acoustic guitar in the last 100 years; the award-winning Expression System® 2 (ES2) pickup, a groundbreaking approach to amplifying an acoustic guitar; and the T5, the first, true hybrid acoustic and electric guitar that can produce amplified acoustic tones, full-crunch electric, and everything in-between with the flip of a five-way switch.
In addition to its forward-thinking approach to guitar design and manufacturing, Taylor has applied that same approach to its wood sourcing and environmental sustainability initiatives. Taylor is dedicated to the pursuit of best practices in forest management, new models of reforestation, and bringing ethically harvested tonewoods to market. This approach, together with outstanding playability, flawless craftsmanship, and stunning aesthetics, are just a few of the reasons that many of today’s leading musicians make Taylor their guitar of choice. The company’s artist roster numbers in the thousands, and includes the likes of Taylor Swift, Jason Mraz, Zac Brown, and many other established musicians.
