Condition: Used, Very Good
This custom built O-50 combines fine tonewoods and construction with modern ergonomics in a perfect balance! The fanned-fret design is an immediate boon to your left hand technique, placing the notes exactly where you want them and adding tension in the all the right places for exceptional low end clarity. The arm bevel is perfectly cut, allowing easier access around the big-bodied shape and sound of the O model. Complex, clustered chords ring out in perfect balance and fingerstyle passages cut through with wonderful ease on this expertly crafted instrument!
SP Luthier Notes: Fret dress and setup
The Original Series was the very first Lowden range from 1976, just as the ‘O’ model is George’s original Lowden body design. Although the medium sized ‘F’ and concert sized ‘S’ have been added to the range since then, the Lowden standard of passionate commitment to no-compromise was well and truly set.
Over the years, the 32 has become more sought after especially because of its full bodied and yet very clear defined tone. The Sitka spruce top help to balance the rosewood’s warm fullness. The O version is warm, full and clear, the F is the same but with a more focused projection making it ideal for flat-picking and fingerstyle. The S version has been a bit of a surprise in that it has a large body sound in a concert sized instrument!
