Manufacturer's Description from Gretsch Drums

Bell brass is a metal alloy that has been widely used in musical instrument manufacturing because of its superior acoustical properties. Bell brass snare drums have been widely used by the world’s finest recording studios and are sought after for their smooth, pure timbre and controlled overtones. The Gretsch 3.0mm bell brass shell shares the warm characteristics of wood with the cut of a metal drum. The 30-degree bearing edge gives the drum extra body that promotes a powerful low end and sizzling highs while retaining sensitivity.
