What We Think

Dana!  Stop!  We can't take it!  It's too beautiful!  How does the man get a Sunburst to look like it's actually coming from a light source and not the many, many hours of hand-done work he himself carries out?  Unreal.  That heavenly glow is only fitting for the voice on this instrument--like a choir of angels that's been rehearsing for all eternity.  Each note is distinct and clear while the complex harmonic overtones nimbly weave and sync with one another to create a truly 3-dimensional sound.  Some vintage pieces we've played sound like toddlers compared to this commanding gentleman of an instrument.  Why imagine what it will sound like in even a year's time--find out!

Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

OM, 14 Fret 25.5” scale: You can think of the Vintage OM as a smaller version of our Dreadnought--or maybe it's the other way around. Because of its characteristic superb balance, clarity of voice, and sustaining top register, the OM is often thought of as the quintessential fingerstyle guitar. It's not surprising, though, that more than a few players appreciate these same characteristics not only for flatpicking but also for a variety of other applications. We scallop both sides of the X brace on our OM. This provides the” looseness” required in a smaller guitar to produce a clear, strong bass response, and power and projection that belies its size.

Bourgeois Guitars

About Manufacturer

Bourgeois Guitars are defining the future of vintage tone, combining old-world hand-voicing techniques with modern innovations in design and materials. Built in a ca. 1850s mill in the industrial town of Lewiston Maine, master luthier Dana Bourgeois and his small team of highly skilled craftsman produce some of the finest steel-string instruments available today.

Known for tonal excellence, meticulous craftsmanship and top-notch materials, they are played by six-string luminaries such as Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Sean Watkins, Della Mae, the late Doc Watson and countless professional and nonprofessional enthusiasts. Bourgeois guitars have had a prominent role in the American steel-string guitar renaissance for more than two decades, helping shape acoustic music’s most recent rise in popularity.
