The D1A from Collings Guitars is a classic 18 style dreadnought acoustic guitar. It features an Adirondack Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. This is very loud, present guitar. Keeping up with the banjo won't be a problem with this guitar. This wood combination is a favorite for blue grass players, but it is versatile enough to excel in fingerstyle, jazz, and blues playing. This guitar has wonderful dynamics and warmth with just the right amount of sparkle. The workmanship is excellent, like all of Collings guitars. What we think:

Someone want to tell us how John Peluso has managed to put a vintage German EF14 Telefunken tube in a mic that isn't only under $3K, but half that? This very well may be the greatest value of any large diaphragm tube microphone on the market today - absolutely stunning - so much so that one studio has put their original top-shelf U47 in the cabinet. This thing has got the huge round body, along side the ultra sweet high end - it's actually like a U47 and then some! If you are looking to add a truly exceptional top shelf tube microphone to your collection, look no further... for this amount of money, there just isn't a better deal, period.

Everyone is looking to build a real collection of mics, and at this price, there is no reason every studio with money for a new mic shouldn't pick one of these up. We just hope the pendulum doesn't swing one day, and Peluso decides he should start charging what everyone else is for comparable quality: $3-4K!

Keep in mind that these mics are made from a real, vintage, new-old stock EF14 tube. That means when he can't get the tubes any more, he will only have the American Tube substitution available. When the word hits the street about how these mics actually sound (rather than the BS negative hype on the internet led by either people who haven't heard the mic or other dealers who don't sell them)! At this price point, this thing is an absolute steal- pick one up while you can!
