Peluso 22 251 Switchable Pattern Tube Microphone, from Peluso

On May 21, 2009 The Beast joined Grammy nominee Nnenna Freelon for a charity event in support of the Durham Arts Council at Sound Pure Studios. Following an interactive recording demonstration, The Beast capped off the evening with a performance for the attendees in which they premiered two original songs, including this one entitled Catalyst. This footage captures the intimate live show, recorded in one take and mixed at Sound Pure. The mics included the Peluso 22 251 on 6-time Grammy nominee Freelon's Vocals, Peluso VTB on MC Pierce Freelon of the Beast's Voice, a pair of Peluso P12 Microphones on the Steinway piano, Peluso 2247SE on Acoustic Bass, and Peluso CEMC6 Mics as Drum Overheads.

This video was created by Giulio Carnassi and cut all of vocals on his Peluso 22 251 microphone.  Entirely re-recorded from scratch, with the full choir, by Giulio Carmassi. Every instrument overdubbed, and the video shows 95% of the actual takes used in the recording. No autotune or similar used anywhere. All filmed with a cheap handy camera and all the lighting is done with regular house lamps. No crew or engineers, just me, a tripod and a bunch of mics. Hope you enjoy. It's a labor of love. And yes, i'm not Freddie Mercury, and i don't think i will ever be. But I've done this with a lot of respect for him and the rest of the band and i hope that other people that loved the original will have fun going through it.  All the vocals were cut with a Peluso 251 tube mic.
