Manufacturer's Description from Taylor

814CE DLX

This deluxe-edition 814ce takes a best-selling Taylor model to even greater heights. The 814ce’s evergreen appeal comes from its impressive musical versatility, along with recent internal voicing upgrades that boost the warmth and produce a richer low-end response. The 814ce Deluxe sports a trio of additional premium enhancements: Adirondack spruce bracing that turbo-charges the tonal output; a beautifully rounded rosewood radius armrest for adding playing comfort; and Gotoh 510 tuners, which feature a 21:1 gear ratio for an ultra-smooth tuning experience. This is a fantastic choice for a discerning player looking for a high-performance guitar that can cover a mix of strumming, flatpicking and fingerstyle. Premium details include maple binding and back strip, rosewood top edge trim, a rosewood pickguard, Taylor’s Element fretboard inlay in mother-of-pearl, a smoky ebony fretboard, and Expression System 2 acoustic electronics. The guitar features a Venetian cutaway and includes a Taylor deluxe hardshell case.

Expression System 2

The Taylor Expression System® 2 (ES2) is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.

Renowned for blending modern, innovative manufacturing techniques with a master craftsman's attention to detail, Taylor guitars are widely considered among the best-sounding and easiest to play in the world. The company was a pioneer in the use of computer mills, lasers and other high-tech tools and proprietary machinery, and today, Bob Taylor is widely recognized throughout the musical instrument industry as the visionary acoustic guitar manufacturer. Among the company’s many innovations are its patented Taylor Neck, the first major innovation in the construction of the acoustic guitar in the last 100 years; the award-winning Expression System® 2 (ES2) pickup, a groundbreaking approach to amplifying an acoustic guitar; and the T5, the first, true hybrid acoustic and electric guitar that can produce amplified acoustic tones, full-crunch electric, and everything in-between with the flip of a five-way switch.

In addition to its forward-thinking approach to guitar design and manufacturing, Taylor has applied that same approach to its wood sourcing and environmental sustainability initiatives. Taylor is dedicated to the pursuit of best practices in forest management, new models of reforestation, and bringing ethically harvested tonewoods to market. This approach, together with outstanding playability, flawless craftsmanship, and stunning aesthetics, are just a few of the reasons that many of today’s leading musicians make Taylor their guitar of choice.
