Celebrating 40 years with Sonor, the great Steve Smith has collaborated with Sonor again on another incredible signature snare drum. This limited edition drum will have a circulation of 77 pieces worldwide tying in with his signing with Sonor in 1977.
This drum features a thin vintage beech shell at 6mm thick with a gorgeous Mountain Burl inner and outer veneer finished in a semi-gloss. Steve chose to go with a rounded or vintage style bearing with this drum giving a smoother articulation that blends extremely well with the beech tone. As a long time player with Sonor, Steve also implemented the Phonic lugs which perform well in a multitude of tuning ranges and bring back the classic Sonor look. This drum also features the vintage style Superprofil Die-Cast Hoops giving this drum a little more focus without robbing you of sustain.

To celebrate Steve Smith being a member of the Sonor Artist family for 40 years, Sonor has built a special limited edition snare drum. This drum is limited to 77pieces globally to mark the year (1977) that Steve joined the Sonor family. Steve was deeply involved in every aspect of this drum, as it is based off his SQ2 snare that he uses on his Journey kit.
