Beech has a very pleasant warm sound that has smooth high and lush low frequencies to span a variety of musical scenarios. Opting for a 5.75" shell depth, this snare drum splits the difference between a rock drum and a jazz drum and can voice articulately through a broad tuning spectrum. The 13" shell diameter's naturally higher fundamental pitch makes medium and high tunings snap and pop while the thin shell combined with Sonor's Tunesafe lugs hold the low tuning taught with ease. We loved the center mounted hardware both for its aesthetic and the sonic attributes.
