This is one of the nicest snare drums we have had the pleasure of having in our store. The shell on this drum is the Maple Light which consists of three layers of 3-ply of maple creating a shell thickness of about 6.7mm and finished with gorgeous Cherry Gloss Birdseye veneer.
All hardware on this drum is isolated from the shell with rubber insulators and outfitted with die-cast hoops. The chrome is in excellent shape and does not show any signs of pitting. Currently, this drum is outfitted with the original Remo Ambassador snare side head and an Evans Genera Dry head on the batter side.
For decades SONOR has supported the constant improvement of percussion instruments on a scientific level. The close cooperation with research institutes, renowned musicologists and leading artists builds the basis for these efforts. Several groundbreaking developments were made possible by these mutual activities. An example is the optimization of the resonance properties of drum shells. In the area of mallet instruments, vibraphones, metallophones and glockenspiels SONOR has introduced major improvements in quality standards. Also concert and marching percussion instruments have seen considerable further developments.
As one of the oldest drum companies in the world, Sonor brings quality craftsmanship the old fashioned way, by researching their instruments, and constructing them so that they are built to last. It is this pride and dedication that has led Sonor to become one of the premier names in percussion today. Sonor drums and hardware consistently receive top results in tests put on by leading drum and percussion publications. As a first in musical instruments, Sonor received the highest design award of Germany in 1994.
Known for their quality of sound as well as their build quality, Sonor is the choice for top-tier drummers such as Glenn Kotche of Wilco, Danny Carey of TOOL, Steve Smith of Journey, Benny Greb, Jojo Mayer of Nerve, Gavin Harrison of Porcupine Tree, Chris Coleman of Prince, Jack DeJohnette, and many more. Through all the achievements and endorsements, Sonor remains dedicated to consistently offering players with the best sound possible.
