"So that was of course the 262nd dreadnought we ever made, and from 1988. That is Tony’s real signature on the label. It is a standard Tony Rice Professional Model from that time, with Brazilian Rosewood back/sides, a German Spruce top and Macassar Ebony overlay" - Carolyn Sills at SCGC
It's wandered far and wide and has the scars to prove it but trust us, this TR Pro is no ways tired! Man alive! This is one of the first 100 Tony Rice models Santa Cruz made and probably takes the top prize for oldest Santa Cruz we've ever seen. You know what they say about the more play a guitar gets, the better it sounds? They're right. From the Liberty bell tolling in a thunderstorm to wind chimes in morning breeze, this masterful instrument/historical artifact/piece of sheer art can span the full range of flattop expression. If you're not afraid of a guitar that's received some professional attention (from the good folks at SCGC themselves, no less), we may not have a better recommendation, now or ever.
You don't mind that Tony signed it, do you? If so you're going to hate the full Tony Rice Unit signatures on the original case!
