After listening to our monitors with a set of Recoil Stabalizers for only a few minutes we knew that these would become a permanent fixture in both our A room and B room. Our room is fantastic acoustically, and we also have our monitors on weighted stands, but the RX series pad tightened up the low end and gave us a more detailed representation of what had been recorded. Every studio should have a set of these under their monitors!
We have shown the RX7 and RX7a versions on our website as they fit most monitors, but we can get any size required for your application. If you look at the attached PDF, you can find the Recoil Stabalizer that will fit your needs, and email or call us here at the shop to place your order.
Designed for nearfield monitors, the Primacoustic Recoil Stabilizer™ is a unique speaker mounting device that at once eliminates disruptive resonant coupling from the loudspeaker to the stand, while providing a stable base that reduces the recoil caused by the forward energy of the loudspeaker motion.
The Recoil Stabilizer is a loudspeaker platform that combines three basic
components: a high-density urethane foam base to isolate the speaker from the shelf, monitor-bridge or stand; a heavy ¼” laser-cut steel plate; and a thin neoprene top surface. The foam effectively decouples the loudspeaker to eliminate vibration-borne resonance that invariably introduces phase anomalies, while the steel plate introduces significant mass to the structure, stabilizing the speaker. The no-slip surface coats the top to ensure the monitor stays firmly in place.
By reducing the backward 'recoil' as the speaker coil pushes energy forward, the initial transient no longer suffers lag and the sharpness of the resulting impulse is more defined. Upon first listening, one immediately notices more punch and extended low end. Upon further listening, one begins to notice greater detail at all frequencies, improved transient response and more defined depth of field. This not only makes mixing easier, but since the Recoils eliminate unknown resonance from contaminating the sound, your mixes immediately translate better to other rooms and audio systems.
The Recoil Stabilizer is available in various sizes, weights and firing angles to address the vast array of speaker designs currently on the market and personal mounting preferences. To make selection easy, we have produced a simple cross-reference chart to match the right Recoil Stabilizer for your monitors.

If you are listening to the sound system in a church, PA system at an airport, or a concert in a hockey arena and are not impressed, it is probably not the fault of the PA system, but more likely the lack of proper acoustical treatment in the room.
Architects have just begun to understand that a great looking room that may be ‘functional for people’, may in fact introduce horrendous results when it comes to acoustics. This can be partially attributed to the lack of inter-disciplinary cross-training at universities and from a historical perspective, the science of acoustics has been kept a ‘dark secret’ that could only be conjured by mythical creatures called acousticians.
But this is changing. Through trial and error, advanced computer modeling and greater understanding of acoustical behavior, we can now predict with relative certainty how sound will behave in a given room. And as more and more folks have come in contact with acoustics, there is an appreciation for the benefits which, only a decade ago, were simply invisible. In fact awareness regarding the importance of acoustic sound control has gained such prominence that many top notch sound contractors will refuse to switch out the PA system in a church unless problems with the acoustics have been resolved for fear that the new PA will not yield any improvement and will only serve to tarnish their reputation.
Radial Engineering Ltd. pioneered the benefits of acoustics nearly 20 years ago by importing a brand of acoustic panels from Europe and supplying them to our customers. We quickly became frustrated as the product was expensive and it seemed that the company’s focus was heading towards industrial noise control—not music. We wanted a solution for studios, churches, broadcast and other music related venues. Primacoustic was created in Year-2000 as a means to provide simple solutions. Little did we know that within 10 years the market would completely shift, that most professional recording would move from the studio to the home and that schools and churches would begin to realize that the majority of their room problems were in fact caused by poor acoustics, not the audio system.
Today, Primacoustic has become a market leader in high performance acoustic products. Our ground-breaking Broadway acoustic panels not only grace the studio walls of international artists such as Tommy Lee, Nathan East, Scott Henderson, and David Bottrill, they have also been selected at gaming giants Electronic Arts and Transformers and were used to control the acoustics at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics by US giant NBC and Canada’s CTV in the International Broadcast Center.
Primacoustic begins with the premise of a no-compromise approach on acoustical performance. In fact, Broadway panels are as good, if not better, than the most expensive panels made today. The ‘win’ is achieved by following the ‘Model T Ford approach’ of mass producing a limited selection as a means of lowering costs.
Primacoustic offers a wide array of acoustic solutions that spans all market segments. This includes special T-bar ceiling tiles that help retain sound inside a boardroom, acoustic clouds for call centers and studios and bass traps & diffusers for high end control rooms. Each product is engineered to deliver maximum performance while presenting the very best value.
The Recoil Stabilizer is a nearfield monitor platform that incorporates four different elements to create the whole. This includes:
Isolation foam
High density open cell acoustic foam provides acoustic isolation to eliminate coupling between loudspeaker and shelf.
Steel platform
Laser cut ¼” (6mm) steel platform adds the necessary stabilizing mass to rigidly hold the nearfield monitor in place.
Curved front panel
Curved front panel eliminates standing waves and adds mass to the platform without increasing the footprint.
Retention pad
Thin no-slip neoprene surface ecures the nearfield monitor to the top surface for maximum signal transfer.
