With increased power and newly added features, the Double Four Plus BG-80 is a worthy successor to PJB’s legendary BG-75 Double Four model. The BG-80 is a 90Watt single channel bass combo with two four-inch speakers and a 3 band EQ that is perfectly tailored for bass guitar. Other features include an auxiliary input for iPad/iPod, smart phone or drum machine, stereo headphone–out jack and a line out for recording.

Recorded music sounds great through the Bluetooth function (V5.1 with aptX HD). In addition, the Double Four Plus is equipped with a DC input (USB Type-C port) connection which supports a mobile power bank of USB PD (Power Delivery) Protocol. This provides the ultimate in “Tone To Go” and busking possibilities, even where AC power isn’t available. The BG-80 is ideal for all kinds of basses, and can handle the open B string on a 5- string bass with ease.

So how do you get the ultimate bass sound from a small speaker cabinet? PJB has applied its cutting-edge experience in designing small speakers to achieve a 4 inch driver with Swiss watch precision. Using our extensive R&D facility which includes the largest an-echoic chamber in the bass guitar amplifier industry and the transducer Klippel measurement system with laser technology, PJB was able to develop the proprietary PJB “long-thro” 4-inch speakers that have full frequency range up to the highest audio frequencies. Not only does this give greater clarity and transparency to your instrument, but also a high-fidelity sound to any backing track fed into the auxiliary input.

The cabinet is small and portable and built to the same high-quality standards of all PJB cabinets. What you hear from the Double Four Plus is the closest you can get to how your instrument actually sounds, and, is remarkably loud for its size. About Manufacturer

For more than 55 years, my passion for the electric bass has only grown stronger. It all started at the age of 13, during the era of Jimi Hendrix and Motown, when I was first inspired by the legendary Motown bass player, James Jamerson. Despite facing challenges as a schoolboy without the support of my family or the means to purchase my own equipment, I never let that stop me. I taught myself about bass construction, amplifier electronics, and even wound my own pickups, all fueled by my unwavering determination.

In the early 70s, I enrolled at The Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, Wales, where I was living, to study classical upright bass. Despite the college’s conservative views on music, I remained steadfast in pursuing my passion and played in various rock, R&B, and jazz groups while also doing studio work for the BBC TV company to pay for my tuition. Frustrated with the limitations of available equipment, I started modifying my own instruments and amplifiers in my pursuit of the perfect sound.

In the 1990s, I moved to the US and worked for Boston Acoustics before founding Platinum Audio and designing the world’s most expensive home loudspeaker system, the Air-Pulse. In 1998, I founded American Acoustic Development, the parent company of PJB bass amps and AIRPULSE guitar amps, which now has a team of over 150 employees and a 200,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to creating exceptional loudspeakers and amplifiers.

My journey has come full circle and my passion for bass playing and sound engineering is reflected in every product we create at PJB.
