This Pearl Free Floating snare drum utilizes thin 1mm phosphor brass shell to produce a crisp and full-bodied note that works well for live or session work.
The thin shell, combined with the shallow snare bed, produce articulate notes that are perfect for press or buzz roles. This snare drum is outfitted with 10 lugs that provide an even stretch on the drum head through multiple tuning ranges allowing you to find your ideal sweet spot with ease. This appears to be a late 80s or early 90s drum, and fitting with the times, the diecast hoops has some light pitting. The pitting seems to be only present on the hoops and doesn't affect any of the other hardware.
The Pearl Free Floating snare drum is a true workhorse within their snare drum catalog. At home in a variety of musical situations, metal drum enthusiast will love how easy this drum is easy to tune and play. If you are looking for the classic brass snare drum sound, give this drum some consideration.
Pearl's revolutionary die-cast Free Floating chassis allows each shell to speak with a voice that is uninhibited by shell hardware, for true tonal purity. Individually chosen by size, shell type, and application, each drum is true to the Free Floating concept, and gives the player an unrestrained voice within the tonal spectrum.
Features a 1mm polished Brass shell that delivers crisp full-spectrum sound, both bright in smacking punch and warm in overtone.
Pearl Corporation is organized and functions as a wholesale distributor of drums, percussion musical instruments and flutes for the United States. The majority of drums and related items are manufactured by Pearl Musical Instrument company and imported directly from company owned factories located in Taiwan and China.
Pearl has created several drum products, such as shells in the 1970s that were made of wood with a fiber-glass lining. There was also a shell made of a composite called "Phenolic." Additionally, Pearl combined roto-toms and these Phenolic shells to create the Vari-Pitch line of drums. Other early innovations included shells that were slightly undersized, so that the drum head would extend over the edges, much like a gong drum. Pearl manufactured seamless, extruded acrylic shells that were different from the tabbed-and-seamed Vistalite shells used by Ludwig. Pearl also developed the hinged tube tom-arm, a design widely copied by many other drum manufacturers.
