Sound Pure's Take
Ladies and gents, this is hands-down one of the coolest instruments I've ever had in inventory. It conjures images of steam machines and the American west. This is cusp-technology at its finest. The what-could-have-been meets post-modern engineering. The tail-piece alone belongs in a museum. It plays like a sweet summer dream and chugs along like locomotion cutting through a mountain full of walnut trees. The tone will transport you. The aesthetic will haunt you. This national mandolin is why I love what I do.

From Other (Miscellanous Used/Vintage/Consign)
Our new mandolin spent two years in R&D before finally making it into production in January of 2005. It has traditional features such as a biscuit bridge and vintage-style open gear tuners, combined with modern appointments, including an intonated saddle and a comfortably radiused, extended fretboard. The neck is made from highly figured maple. The body is carved from two-piece walnut, with a figured maple top. The Art-Deco cast tailpiece and antique brass parts are exclusive to this instrument.
