Sound Pure's Take

Dreaming of a vintage National Tricone with that well-traveled, well-loved look — but without the problems compounded by ninety years of making music? The Brass Tricone boasts pure olden-days mojo with a sweet sound, yet plays like new. The brass body is plated and then given an aged patina, resulting in a unique vintage look. Each instrument is individually finished by hand so no two instruments look exactly alike, making each one a unique work of art. The mahogany neck features an ebony fretboard and 1930s peghead with vintage-style tuning machines. This Tricone looks like it’s a veteran of the juke joints and dancehalls, and the brass body emits a bell-like tone and rich sustain that backs up the appearance

From National Resphonic

Raw Series instruments have a minimal, wax body finish giving a naturally smooth feel that will patina over time. They are expertly handcrafted in our California workshop to the high quality standards our reputation is built on. Steel models, like all National steel bodied instruments, have an interior finish to protect against rusting.

Raw Series instruments are available in steel, brass, and German silver and feature a hardrock maple neck and a chicken-foot resonator coverplate. 12-Fret models have a slotted headstock and flat-cut F-holes while 14-Fret models have a peghead and rolled F-holes.

Currently we are the only company making guitars of German silver alloy in the tradition of the original 1930’s Nationals. Our Raw Series instruments offer an affordable option to anyone looking to recreate the tone of a vintage National.
