What We Think

Condition: Used, Very Good - Some minor scratching & play wear

This tricone's dialed in just right for fingerstyle.  Many folks go straight to single cone resonators for fingerstyle, thanks to the honky, punchy, mid-rangey voice they have to offer.  And, in turn, most slide players prefer tricones.  But don't go thinking that's a rule!  Tricones possess a more complex, balanced dynamic range as well superior sustain that offer the fingerstylist more nuance and broader horizons in general as far as what you can get away with playing.  While the steel body on this model lends your playing a nice dark quality, you'll hear and love a compliment to that tonality in the way notes hang and shimmer in the air.  With a bit of palm-muting technique in the right hand, you'll be layering haunting, complex harmonic ideas in no time.  American Primitive a la John Fahey?  Classical?  Irish Trad?  That ghostly reso sound will be present wherever you end up genre-wise, but you might be surprised by how far away from the expected you wander with this unique National in hand!
