What We Think
The Metro Drum Company Blue Gum ply shell snare drum is the perfect blend of aesthetic and tone in one brilliant package. This drum has a great balance of attack and body.
We were thoroughly impressed to find the attack on this drum to be round with incredible sustain and only moderate decay. The shell is beautifully finished inside and out with 45º bearing edges which deliver a clean and precise note. Metro chose to configure this shell with 12 plies of Blue Gum without reinforcing rings which have a shell thickness of about 1/4" thick. This snare drum has ten double-ended tube lugs that add a nice and subtle compression to the shell that minimizes some overtones.
Complemented with a Blackheart veneer in a natural satin finish, this snare is just gorgeous. For players who want something outside of the standard offerings, the Metro Drum Company delivers a sound that we are sure you'll be impressed with as much as we were.

Blue gum is an Australian hardwood timber that is commonly found along the east coast of Australia. The tree gets its name from both its prevalence around the city of Sydney and the sometimes bluish appearance of its bark.
