In this video, Sound Pure acoustic guitar specialist Barrett Brooks compares two different used Lowden acoustic guitars; the O-32 Sitka Spruce/IRW Concert Acoustic (Serial #7579) and the Wee Lowden Redwood/Rosewood Fan Fret (Serial #20420)
The Original Series was the very first Lowden range from 1976, just as the ‘O’ model is George’s original Lowden body design. Although the medium sized ‘F’ and concert sized ‘S’ have been added to the range since then, the Lowden standard of passionate commitment to no-compromise was well and truly set.
Over the years, the 32 has become more sought after especially because of its full bodied and yet very clear defined tone. The Sitka spruce top help to balance the rosewood’s warm fullness. The O version is warm, full and clear, the F is the same but with a more focused projection making it ideal for flat-picking and fingerstyle. The S version has been a bit of a surprise in that it has a large body sound in a concert sized instrument!
