This Gretsch New Classic drum in Cherry Gloss is here on consignment. The classic two up and two down configuration has been well maintained. The chrome is in great condition with no signs of pitting and the lugs tune with ease. There are no extra holes and no modifications have been done to these drums. There are a couple of small bumps and bruises, but nothing outside of the normal wear and tear of a drumset of this age. The batter bass drum hoop was protected with a hoop guard to minimize any pedal rash and the heads for the entire set are fairly new. This is not a museum grade set, but will be a great player or recording set for the right person.
At a time when Retro is as hip as ever, Gretsch embellishes the retro vibe by offering a true new professional drum set in the New Classic series. Featuring proportionate Gretsch-formula maple shells, this drum-set produces a vintage Gretsch tonality while giving these drums their own distinctive sound. Proportionate shells increase in thickness as shell diameters increase to give a full, balanced tonality across the entire drum set. Classy appointments include vintage styled tube lugs, the very low mass "ITS" integrated tom suspension system and 9025 hinged tom and floor tom leg brackets. Retro looks combined with hip innovations...a true New Classic.
For 135 years, the Gretsch Drum Company has produced classic American instruments that drummers the world over covet. The signature “great Gretsch sound” has been utilized by numerous classic and modern drummers alike; Max Roach, Tony Williams, Cindy Blackman, Taylor Hawkins, and Vinnie Colaiuta are just a few examples of master drummers that have sat behind Gretsch kits. Currently, Gretsch’s three lines of professional-grade drums (the Brooklyn, Broadkaster, and USA Custom) are built by a small team of dedicated craftsmen in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Gretsch also offers a number of affordable import lines that allow beginner and intermediate drummers to be a part of drum history and play behind a Gretsch set.
