Grace Design Introduces m103 Mic Pre Channel Strip at AES October 2009, NYC

Eben Grace from Grace Design discusses the M103 Channel Strip with Microphone Preamplifier, Equalizer, and Compressor, with Doug Wessling of Sound Pure Pro Audio, and Sound Pure Recording Studios. The famous clean, transparent, and wonderfully detailed sound of the Grace line of preamps made famous by their 801 and 201, and later made affordable with their 101 half rack, is now available in a complete channel strip designed to maintain the cleanliness and transparency Grace is famous for across the entire signal chain of this integrated channel strip. You can expect the same immaculate detail and openness throughout the EQ, and compressor, not just the Grace preamp. This long awaited device is the first foray into the world of EQ and compression, and is destined for success. Built with professional needs in mind, and at a price point designed to meet the budgets of project studios, this channel strip is the ultimate compliment to any recording chain where the signal path following the microphone is desired to be as transparent and neutral as possible - buy one and drive it on its own as a tracking or mixing tool, or buy a pair and link the compressors for a 2 channel stereo buss, or mastering tool . Call Sound Pure toll free at 888-528-9703 to discuss ordering one, or any questions you might have, or try sales@soundpure.com. Members of the Sound Pure Sales team are also experienced professional recording engineers that are glad to lend their sales experience with any of their prospective customers. Please give us a call, we are here to help!

Manufacturer's Description from Grace

Channel strip... it doesn't roll off the tongue or smack of a high fidelity recording device. Maybe that?s why its taken us so long to build one. But we got over it. All labels aside, our new m103 is a powerful tracking tool for virtually any recording scenario. It starts with our tried and true m101 transformerless microphone preamplifier circuity. Headroom, detail, clarity, musicality its all there.

Complete with our exclusive ribbon mic mode, a 75Hz HPF and 48V phantom. The 3 band EQ section is built around single stage parallel tuning architecture, which minimizes circuitry and delivers natural, musical tonal shaping at all frequencies. Controls include a fully parametric mid, with shelving and peak modes on the high and low bands.

The compressor circuit is based on an optical attenuator - the purest, high fidelity gain control mechanism available. It provides gentle limiting to fairly heavy compression, while remaining neutral and transparent. The perfect way to zip it all up and send it downstream - clean, intact and alive. Comprehensive I/O options allow the mic pre and EQ/COMP sections to be accessed independently of each other, and the order of the EQ/COMP is switchable. The compressor controls can be linked for stereo applications, and 10 segment gain reduction and output meters make monitoring signal status simple. So there it is, we've done it. The m103 - a channel strip by name, a powerful tool by design.

Grace Design

About Manufacturer

Audio engineer/designer Michael Grace originally began building single order custom audio products for a small, devout following of recording engineers and artists is 1990. Before long, the word had spread about Michael's custom microphone preamplifier designs, which were said to outperform anything else that was commercially available. Based on an increasing demand for his mic preamp design, in 1994 Grace Design was founded and began production of the original 801 mic preamp. Not only did the 801 provide a new level of audio performance and functionality, it helped to establish outboard microphone preamplifiers and direct-to-tape recording as a new standard in professional audio production. Over the years, Grace Design has maintained a steady, methodical pace to developing new products and technologies. Our product line has evolved into a definitive collection of microphone preamplifier configurations and other unique professional audio products. While the professional audio industry is inundated with products seemingly designed for obsolescence, we pride ourselves on providing audio professionals with the finest tools imaginable. Located in Boulder, Colorado, Grace Design continues its mission into the new millennium. As our company grows, we continually strive to improve our production methods to make sure theya re exact, efficient and environmentally sound. Their employees are treated like family and they strive to improve our production mehods to make sure they are exact, efficient and environmentally sound. Our employees are treated like our family and we strive to maintain our business relationships as friendships. And above all, we remain driven by the original passion that founded the company- the love of music.
