What We Think

Like any true artist, James Goodall approaches each of his models with curiosity and innovation. The traditional dreadnought is no exception. The braces are partially scalloped for maximum vibration and "boom" without compromising the articulation of the instrument. You'll notice there's a bit more meat around the mid-section, too. It's well-defined and extremely loud up and down the board. It plays very easy for a cannon. Easy to bounce around, and with a tone like this, it'd be hard to avoid. You'll be dancing in your chair before you know it.

The aesthetic is traditional, with a hint of modern class. Maple bound with traditional herringbone purfling, this guitar is as authentic as it comes, while being very much of its time. Very much a modern classic.

Manufacturer's Description from Goodall

The Traditional Dreadnought, a flatpicker's delight!

The Traditional model features the popular dreadnought body shape. Its tone is extremely powerful in the bass and midrange with an emphasis on a broad warmth without lacking treble. The Traditional model features a custom, partial scalloped bracing pattern which produces a bit more 'boominess' in the bass and midrange. The peghead and bridge have been redesigned for a more conservative look and Waverly tuning machines are a standard feature. It is nicely trimmed with a herringbone rosette and herringbone top purfling with a chevron marquetry backstrip. It is especially built for the flatpicker and bluegrass style players.
