Condition: Used, Excellent
SP Luthier Notes: Frets 1-9 as they were could not be repaired to an acceptable state so they were replaced with spec accurate fretwire and shaped into near mint condition. The rest of the frets are original. The frets were leveled, recrowned, and polished back to a near mint state. The guitar required minimal work to the action and intonation to be in the most playable condition possible. The finish was then buffed and polished for a beautiful cosmetic appearance, and no further work was required.
"The Grand Concert model is one of the world's most perfect guitars"
The Grand Concert model is a refined and beautifully proportioned shape, and is everything you could desire from an acoustic guitar and more. It's tone is a wonderful blend of balanced clarity, and punchy projection, with a smooth rich bass response. This instrument is larger than the Parlor but smaller than the Concert Jumbo. It has a singing lyrical treble, with excellent sustain, and is comfortable to hold. Though it is a small guitar, the Grand Concert does not exhibit the tight nasal tonal quality in the mid-range and bass that is generally associated with smaller guitars.
"Ideal for the finger-stylist and the flat-picker, with the appropriate tone woods"
While the Grand Concert series is considered ideal for the finger-stylist due to its sensitive, dynamic responsiveness, it is equally appropriate for the flat-picker or plectrum player with the appropriate tonewood combination. It is prized by Bluegrass flat-pickers and has even been said to surpass large bodied dreadnought guitars with respect to it's clarity, sustain and powerful projection
James Goodall represents an artisan who is at the pinnacle of his profession. Superb craftsmanship, an exacting finesse for detail and wood choice, combined with robust, three dimensional sound character -- these are qualities which embody every James Goodall guitar.
