Fantastic! We always love the warm, rich, and harmonically endless tone of a Sitka/EIR, big body guitar from James Goodall. It really does bring together the characters of a D-28 and a Steinway Baby Grand. As complex as it is commanding, this particular model hosts a few special upgrades (check out the rosette and truss rod cover) we don't often find on James' work, most notably the Special Reserve Ancient Sitka top. Good luck finding another one of those! The few nicks and dings the guitar has picked up over the years are truly trivial in comparison to the openness and breadth of tone that the instrument has developed in that time--this is what a great used guitar is all about, y'all!
In November 1998 after 26 years of building some of the finest steel string guitars ever constructed, James Goodall announced the addition of an exciting new box size. This is in response to increasing requests for a more comfortable, smaller body dimension than the Goodall Standard (near in size to the Dreadnought).
"the powerful, rich, and clear tone has exceeded my expectations"
The end result is a beautiful new shape called the Concert Jumbo. "The powerful, rich, and clear tone has exceeded my expectations," James Goodall said of his new Concert Jumbo.
The Concert Jumbo series guitar is slightly smaller than the Standard series and larger than the Grand Concert series guitar. It is available with all the same fine options and wood choices as in all Goodall guitars.
James Goodall represents an artisan who is at the pinnacle of his profession. Superb craftsmanship, an exacting finesse for detail and wood choice, combined with robust, three dimensional sound character -- these are qualities which embody every James Goodall guitar.
Few who endeavor in musical instrument making are capable of consistently maintaining a high level of precision and excellence along with superior tonal character in every instrument. Discerning eyes and ears will find the substance of all these qualities in every James Goodall instrument.
