Sound Pure's Take
Condition: Used, Good
Signs of play wear, ding on front and scratching on back and headstock.
If you're looking for one of the most complex and rich sounding guitars on the planet, you may well have come to the right place. This Grand Concert cutaway just smokes. The set of rosewood on this guitar is simply spicy and has overtones that will rattle the room. Usually a Sitka top will put a lid on all that but this remarkably bear-clawed top behaves more like an Adirondack top, with a bit more clarity. If you're looking for booming bass response with tons of bright clarity on the top-end, this is the guitar for you. Handles a flatpick and fingers with equal and surprisingly different results. Playing some bluegrass, I felt like I was playing some modern Brazilian speed demon, and when I switched to my fingers I was amazed by how much clarity I was getting out of my notes. They sure know how to make a great guitar out there in California!
From Goodall Guitars
The Grand Concert series, recently refined and beautifully proportioned, is everything you can imagine and more. A wonderful blend of clarity and balance with punch and a smooth, rich bass. This instrument is larger than the Parlor and smaller than the Concert Jumbo. It has a singing, lyrical treble with excellent sustain and is comfortable to hold. Though a small guitar, the Grand Concert does not exhibit the tight, nasal tonal quality in the midrange and bass associated with smaller guitars.
While the Grand Concert series is considered ideal for the fingerstylist due to its sensitive, dynamic responsiveness, it is equally appropriate for the flatpicker or plectrum player. It is used by Bluegrass flatpickers and has surpassed traditional dreadnought guitars with respect to power, clarity, sustain and projection.
