Sound Pure's Take

Condition: Used, Excellent

There's a reason that the SJ-200 is the most famous acoustic guitar and you'll understand why the second you strum an open G chord and feel the enormous presence of this fantastic guitar! This guitar is obviously one of the biggest flattop designs and while the body is large and gives the instrument a very powerful sound, playability here is fantastic and has a rounded profile that fit my hand particularly well. The combination of Sitka and Maple gives you a very warm midrange focused sound but the maple also keeps the highs and lows from being drowned out in the mix. This guitar just screams to be played in a singer/songwriter's hands and is ready for just about anything you can throw at it. Give us a call if you have any further questions about this lovely SJ-200 from Gibson!

From Gibson Guitars

From its inaugural appearance in 1937, Gibson’s SJ-200 set a standard others have been trying to match ever since. Today, the legacy of Gibson’s “King of the Flat-tops” lives on in the new SJ-200 Standard. Upon its introduction in the late 1930s, the SJ-200 immediately filled a need for a deeper, more balanced and powerful sound. It gave purveyors of the new American music scene of the 1930s a reliable, well-built instrument, capable of projecting the sound of the guitar well beyond that of any other acoustic on the market—a fact that still holds true today. It is simply the world’s most famous acoustic guitar, and certainly one of the most popular.
