Craviotto Private Reserve snare drums have their own special place in the world. As the name suggests, these special instruments come from a limited pool of exceptional or limited timbers that create unique and sometimes one-of-a-kind instruments.
In this particular case, this 5x14 Bubinga solid shell with matching Bubinga reinforcing rings is one of the limited timbers destined to be one of the rare Craviotto finds to be released into the wild. Bubinga is an African wood that has a very unique reddish-orange coloration. Most pieces tend to start reddish orange when freshly cut, darkening over time to a reddish/purplish brown. The natural oil finish showcases the natural beauty of the wood grain and adds depth to this beautiful shell.
Blessed with 45-degree bearing edges, it has articulation and the sensitivity you've come to know and love from Craviotto while the Bubinga's sonic richness delivers a sound like you've not heard before. The classic tube lugs tune easily and hold tune easily as well regardless of your preference giving this drum a versatility that spans a variety of musical applications. It also is equipped with the Trick throw-off, which has really become the industry standard for custom companies. Also included, you will receive the Craviotto case to protect your investment.
Whether you are a collector or a working player looking for a unique sound, the Craviotto 5x14 Private Reserve Bubinga snare drum carves out a rich sonic space with an aesthetic beauty that is commensurate to its sound. Discover the craftsmanship and commitment to quality that has set the Craviotto work apart from all of the rest.

Since 2004, Craviotto Drum Company has paved the way in offering custom built, handcrafted one-ply, solid shell drums. Our aim is to explain how solid shells perform differently from ply shell drums. Craviotto Drum Company builds concepts. We want to share these creations with you. We also want to promote our family of artists, and our family of dealers where you can purchase one for yourself.
Each custom drum we make is handcrafted by our small group of artists and craftsmen in California. We don't source our shells like other manufacturers. We get our hands dirty. We start from scratch and see the process through all the way here in the USA. No shortcuts are taken, no compromises made.
Our process starts when we send our craftsmen to the source. Johnny and our team literally pick through millions of board-feet of wood determining which boards are good enough to bear the Craviotto name. And that's just the starting point.
From there, each drum goes through Johnny's proprietary process and passes through the six most talented sets of hands in the drum building business. Each shell wears Johnny's fingerprints, sweat, and final signature of approval with pride. Not every board makes it, only the best get Johnny's signature.
