What We Think

Dana has a way with the slope shoulder dreads and this fantastic tribute to the legendary '30s J-35s might be our favorite yet.  Braced very similarly to the muscular, aggressive Banjo Killers, the D-35 offers a touch of Gibson-y warmth and sweetness thanks to the torrefied top, bracing, and bridge plate.  Dana happened upon a batch of gorgeous old growth Madagascar Rosewood he's selected for the fretboards on these models--a special touch we can't help but love.  And look at that back!  We've never seen such an elegant figure in Mahogany.  This is special in all ways--don't miss it!

Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

Slope D

Our slope shouldered dreadnought is only about 1/4" wider than a standard dreadnought, but what a difference! Voiced for a more open, though less driving, sound than the Dreadnought, the Slope D happily accommodates a wide variety of playing styles including country, blues, old timey, pop, contemporary, and--you name it. And if you're a fingerstyle player looking for a dreadnought-sized guitar that can handle fingerpicks or bare fingers as well as flatpicks, the Slope D is definitely your guitar! The Slope D is also available as a Slope D, 14 Fret, 25” short scale: Relaxed playability; warmer than the long scale version, without significant loss of volume.
