What We Think

This is what it's all about.  Not only do we have the veritable holy grail combination of tonewoods, cut and cured to perfection, but as though that combination wasn't enough, we're talking about a DB Signature model--a guitar that Dana Bourgeois himself took from start to finish.  The care and artistry that only a master can bestow are evident from head to toe on this masterful instrument.  Church bell bass, smooth, rich mids, and sparkling, crystalline highs all sing in unison with Dana' trademark balance and note-to-note-separation.  Don't even get us started on the aesthetic appeal this superlative Dread offers--from the grandeur of the perfectly matched back to the delicate 3-wood herringbone on the top, the look of the guitar just can't be beat for elegance and refinement.  This is the kind of instrument that could launch 1000 ships but it's only going to end one person's search for a lifetime guitar--call us today!

Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

We call this model the "Signature" for a reason; it highlights many individual design elements that are uniquely Dana's. The DB Signature herringbone is a beautiful purfling, unique to Bourgeois featuring 3 alternating woods from dark to light, creating a naturally alluring pattern that compliments the curly koa binding perfectly. The DB backstrip is a similarly unique and elegant pattern. While it can be ordered in any body wood, this combination of design elements was originally conceived to highlight Madagascar Rosewood back & sides, which Dana was an early proponent of as a worthy Brazilian Rosewood substitute.

Bourgeois Guitars

About Manufacturer

Bourgeois Guitars are defining the future of vintage tone, combining old-world hand-voicing techniques with modern innovations in design and materials. Built in a ca. 1850s mill in the industrial town of Lewiston Maine, master luthier Dana Bourgeois and his small team of highly skilled craftsman produce some of the finest steel-string instruments available today.

Known for tonal excellence, meticulous craftsmanship and top-notch materials, they are played by six-string luminaries such as Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Sean Watkins, Della Mae, the late Doc Watson and countless professional and nonprofessional enthusiasts. Bourgeois guitars have had a prominent role in the American steel-string guitar renaissance for more than two decades, helping shape acoustic music’s most recent rise in popularity.
