What We Think

An absolutely dynamite 00!  Dana Bourgeois' distinct take on a certain smallbody Gibson classic has thrilled us with every iteration we've recieved, from Mahogany to Maple, but this one might take the cake for us.  Cherry offers the woody, sweet, airy qualities that Mahogany is known for while also managing to be a bit more articulate, insistently sustaining, and so, so lively.  Blues fingerstyle is just the beginning for an instrument like this--who knows what territory you'll wander into with this one of a kind L-DBO in hand!

Small Body, Cherry Guitar Comparison: Goodall Parlor vs. Bourgeois L-DBO/N

In this video, Sound Pure acoustic guitar specialist Barrett Brooks compares two small body guitars made with cherry back/sides: the Bourgeois L-DBO/N Acoustic #7942 and the Goodall "Bear Claw" Parlor Acoustic #6614.

Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

Dana Bourgeois' passion for acoustic guitars was fostered by those coveted instruments built in the pre-war era. Bourgeois Guitars' mission as a company has always been to merge our love for vintage guitar tone and design with modern innovation and playability. This foundation can be heard and seen clearly in our newest guitar, the Bourgeois L-DBO. Inspired by the classic guitars that emerged from the mid-west early in the last century, the Bourgeois L-DBO brings that distinctive sound that old-time and county-blues enthusiasts love into a new era. Utilizing Bourgeois' Aged Tone torrefaction technology, this guitar combines vintage small-body character and bark with Dana's signature articulation and response. The result is a versatile instrument with tons of personality, perfect for finger-style blues, old-time accompaniment, and comfortable couch-playing.

About Manufacturer

Bourgeois Guitars are defining the future of vintage tone, combining old-world hand-voicing techniques with modern innovations in design and materials. Built in a ca. 1850s mill in the industrial town of Lewiston Maine, master luthier Dana Bourgeois and his small team of highly skilled craftsman produce some of the finest steel-string instruments available today.

Known for tonal excellence, meticulous craftsmanship and top-notch materials, they are played by six-string luminaries such as Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Sean Watkins, Della Mae, the late Doc Watson and countless professional and nonprofessional enthusiasts. Bourgeois guitars have had a prominent role in the American steel-string guitar renaissance for more than two decades, helping shape acoustic music’s most recent rise in popularity.
