What We Think

The apotheosis of Dana's celebrated L-DBO!  The look alone is mythical Blues guitar territory.  What a stunning combination of the Figured Mahogany top, back, sides, and neck (what?!) and that gorgeous Ivoroid here there and everywhere!  Tonally, you couldn't ask for a better old-time/Country Blues machine.  Warm, woody fundamentals with just enough shine in the trebles, plenty of thump and growl in the mids, and a nice, tight low end (hard to come by with Mahogany-topped instruments!) that will make any Blues fingerstylist feel right at home.  Skip the crossroads and head straight to the couch with this Bourgeois Blues in hand--this is the only good luck charm you'll ever need!

Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

Dana Bourgeois' passion for acoustic guitars was fostered by those coveted instruments built in the pre-war era. Bourgeois Guitars' mission as a company has always been to merge our love for vintage guitar tone and design with modern innovation and playability. This foundation can be heard and seen clearly in our newest guitar, the Bourgeois L-DBO. Inspired by the classic guitars that emerged from the mid-west early in the last century, the Bourgeois L-DBO brings that distinctive sound that old-time and county-blues enthusiasts love into a new era. Utilizing Bourgeois' Aged Tone torrefaction technology, this guitar combines vintage small-body character and bark with Dana's signature articulation and response. The result is a versatile instrument with tons of personality, perfect for finger-style blues, old-time accompaniment, and comfortable couch-playing.

Bourgeois Guitars

About Manufacturer

Bourgeois Guitars are defining the future of vintage tone, combining old-world hand-voicing techniques with modern innovations in design and materials. Built in a ca. 1850s mill in the industrial town of Lewiston Maine, master luthier Dana Bourgeois and his small team of highly skilled craftsman produce some of the finest steel-string instruments available today.

Known for tonal excellence, meticulous craftsmanship and top-notch materials, they are played by six-string luminaries such as Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Sean Watkins, Della Mae, the late Doc Watson and countless professional and nonprofessional enthusiasts. Bourgeois guitars have had a prominent role in the American steel-string guitar renaissance for more than two decades, helping shape acoustic music’s most recent rise in popularity.
