What We Think

This JOM isn't what you'd expect from an orchestra model and is sure to have you wondering why more builders aren't doing something similar! The added body depth here gets you somewhat of a dreadnoughts' low end and overall power but with more of a focused and fundamental sound. This is definitely a guitar I'd consider if you want a bit more clarity out of your full size instrument without sacraficing overall volume/projection. The tone here is complex while still having a very stong fundamental and would be a great fit for just about any playstyle!

Manufacturer's Description from Bourgeois

The Jumbo OM, or JOM, is an original body style developed by Dana in the late 80's, in response to players' requests for a mid-sized guitar with the balance and clarity of an OM but with a bigger presence. The idea was simple: Start with the OM outline, enlarge it a bit, play around with the curves and deepen the sides. The result is a wonderfully versatile guitar; larger than an OM, smaller than a Dreadnought, capable of handling almost any playing style you can imagine, and equally capable of operating in solo or ensemble situations. Also available as the JOMC, with Dana’s original cutaway.

About Manufacturer

Bourgeois Guitars are defining the future of vintage tone, combining old-world hand-voicing techniques with modern innovations in design and materials. Built in a ca. 1850s mill in the industrial town of Lewiston Maine, master luthier Dana Bourgeois and his small team of highly skilled craftsman produce some of the finest steel-string instruments available today.

Known for tonal excellence, meticulous craftsmanship and top-notch materials, they are played by six-string luminaries such as Bryan Sutton, Ricky Skaggs, Sean Watkins, Della Mae, the late Doc Watson and countless professional and nonprofessional enthusiasts. Bourgeois guitars have had a prominent role in the American steel-string guitar renaissance for more than two decades, helping shape acoustic music’s most recent rise in popularity.
