What We Think

Highly sought-after and revered by recording engineers for decades, the Neve 1073 is a “desert island device” for many and retains its hype and admiration even today. Over the years, however, they’ve become increasingly more difficult to find. Even if you can find one, they typically go for several thousand dollars per mono channel strip.

That’s why, when BAE crafted this spectacular recreation, gear-heads and audio engineers all over the world started chomping at the bit to get their hands on one. Nearly identical in everything from the Carnhill transformers used in the originals to the Canford wiring and Elma switches.  When dealing with something as classic and recognizable as the luscious and musical tonality of the original Neve 1073s, BAE had to take particular care in engineering the entire product exactly the way it was done all those years ago by Rupert Neve himself. The result is an incredible likeness and worthy adaptation. If you’re looking for a 1073 that is built to last, factory-tested, and perfect for any application without all the headache caused by vintage gear quirks and malfunctions, look no further than the BAE 1073 Preamp/EQ.

Manufacturer's Description from BAE

The BAE 1073 is as authentic as you can get to the original, featuring the same St Ives (Carnhill) transformers as the vintage modules, Elma switches and Canford wire.

The BAE 1073 looks identical to the original vintage module and will happily retrofit in vintage Neve 80 Series consoles because the entire product is engineered in exactly the same way as the originals: the same chassis construction, connectors, printed circuit board layouts, hand-wired looms, and circuitry.

About Manufacturer

BAE are manufacturers of high end microphone preamp/equalizers faithful to vintage designs of the seventies and before. With a penchant for high quality transformers like Carnhill (St lves) and Jensen, everything is as close to the vintage philosophy as possible. Not only that but we insist everything is hand-wired/soldered using discreet electronics and not economized on a circuit board.
