The Kingfisher is a 00 - Parlor-Sized Guitar hand-crafted in 1985/1986 by Mr. Andrew Manson, most certainly, the most famous luthier from the United Kingdom, in the early 1970’s through Present Day.
This extraordinary EC+ quality Vintage Guitar is a vintage collectible stringed instrument with studio quality voicing and sound stage presence. The Kingfisher is an Orchestra –Sized Parlor Slot Top Guitar, and is one of twelve (12) Kingfisher Guitars, that were hand-crafted by Mr. Andrew Manson, during the Vintage Heyday period of the 1980’s.
Less than 46 Kingfisher’s were ultimately hand-crafted by Mr. Manson from the early 1980’s through present day, and only 5 of the 46 instruments, were hand-crafted in similar, Fine Mahogany woods.
This Kingfisher Slot Top is built with a high grade Mahogany back, sides, and neck, Spruce Soundboard, Ebony Finger Board, Mother of Pearl Inlay, Indian Rosewood Bridge, Head Facing and Body Bindings, Ebony Bridge Pins, and Schaller Tuners. It comes with a high quality form fitting hard shell case, although, I have no idea if this is the original case, or a quality aftermarket case. I believe that Mr. Manson routinely used Carleton cases in more recent times than 1986, however, whether this was the case (no pun intended) in 1986, I do not know.
This particular instrument, that is offered for sale, was commissioned for the famous Ivor Mairants Musicentre, in London, United Kingdom, and was hand-crafted by Mr. Manson, while in residence at his Devonshire Studio, in London, United Kingdom.
Mr. Manson, is a world-renowned, and highly distinguished Luthier, from the United Kingdom. In 2010, Mr. Manson relocated to Portugal, and is continuing his extraordinary luthier career, presumably solely on a limited production commission basis, in continuing to build some of the finest hand-crafted stringed-instruments in the world.
