What We Think

The 3rd Power Dream 40 American is making a huge commotion here at SoundPure! This amp is exactly what you think of when you envision 'The American Dream'...and it's definitely got some very dreamy tones inside.

This particular circuit is driven by 6L6 power tubes utilizing 2 classic American-style voicings - 'Blackface' and 'Tweed'. And with 3rd Power's innovative HybridMaster™ control and Venue Switch, allowing you to effectively lower the wattage of the amp by 80% (from 40W to roughly 8-10W), you are easily able to dial in all your favorite 6L6 sounds at whatever volume you'd like.

Starting off in the Blackface voicing the first thing you notice is a crystal clear signal with a powerful, tight bass response with next to no noise and tons of headroom...making it the perfect pedal platform for effects lovers. The Tweed mode gives a slight mid-boost and great tweed-style cleans. However if you toss a little more power out in front, you get a very organic and harmonically rich drive sound with incredible articulation and single-note clarity.

In it's simplest terms - this thing is a beast. Between multiple voicings and a venue switch allowing you to change the output power, the Dream 40 American has the distuingishing ability to really find it's niche in multiple genres of music. All the classic American tones you can think of packed into one absolutely killer amp.

Manufacturer's Description from 3rd Power Amps

TWO VINTAGE AMERICAN TONES - DREAM 40 AMERICAN

Tube Rectified / HybridMASTER™
3rd Power's DREAM 40 AMERICAN amplifier takes the American channel of our Dream Weaver MKII and packs it all into a smart, streamlined package. You'll be amazed by DREAM 40 AMERICAN's crisp performance with superior precision, consistency and beauty.

Iconic Tweed and Blackface voicings
Inspired by our very own Dream Weaver MKII, the Dream 40 American takes both Tweed and Blackface voices and packs them into this single channel amplifier.

Channel Strip Close Up
Two different vintage American preamp voices are available via toggle switch, including Tweed (based on a '59 tweed bass amp) and Blackface (based on a '63 blackface bass amp). When you select your sound, you are switching entire preamp and tone stack circuits that faithfully recreate a superb vintage vibe. Blackface mode delivers that classic "scooped mid" American sound with excellent headroom. Tweed mode has that meaty "mid growl" and sweet top end that just oozes with vintage "voodoo."

Perfect Feel, Perfect Volume

Tube Rectification
For the ultimate experience in the "feel" department, we built in a rectifier tube socket loaded with a GZ34 tube rectifier for a vintage "tube sag" that adds just the right amount of compression and bounce to your sound.

HybridMASTER™ Volume Control
HybridMASTER™ and the Venue Switch are located on the front panel giving you the confidence to play what you feel when you feel it at exactly the volume you need for the occasion. Think of the Venue Switch as a "macro" volume adjustment - choose between full volume (Stage Mode) or an 80% volume reduction (Studio Mode) - and the HybridMASTER knob as a "micro" volume adjustment allowing you to fine tune your output levels. Patent-pending, HybridMASTER is volume management executed to perfection.
