What We Think
One of the most iconic and recorded drum sets of the 1980s is the Yamaha Recording Custom. The core of this consignment set dates back to the late 80's. Given its age, these studio kept drums are in great condition with the rare Quartz Grey finish. The owner of this set has requested to sell this set complete, so there will not be any parting out of individual drums.
The thin birch shells coupled with the deeper toms are magical. All toms feature the Yamaha mounts removed from the shell and were added to RIMS suspension mounts to allow these drums to resonate to their fullest potential. The chrome is clean and shows no sign of pitting and all of the parts appear to be original.
The finish has some bumps, but for the most part, it is a very clean set void of any glaring spots of missing paint. The bass drum pedal rash has even been kept to a minimum given their age. Included in the set are the tom holders and the stands in the photos.
