This striking natural finish Waterloo WL-14 Scissortail is an exceptional acoustic instrument that perfectly captures the raw, soulful punch of depression-era parlor and blues guitars. Built with a solid spruce top and solid maple back and sides, this featherweight 3-pound 11-ounce guitar barks with an articulate, immediate mid-range projection and a tight, woody low end supported by vintage-inspired X-bracing. The solid mahogany neck features a prominent V-shape profile paired with a 12-inch radius Indian rosewood fingerboard, providing an authentic old-school feel that rewards deliberate fingerpicking and traditional flatpicking techniques. Meticulously styled with tortoise-bound body edges, a tigerstripe celluloid pickguard, an ebony nut, and aged Golden Age Restoration tuners, its aesthetics match its dry, open voice. Completed by the stenciled Waterloo logo and custom Scissortail graphic on the headstock, this rare, semi-gloss nitro-lacquered piece ships in its protective hardshell case.

Drawing its name from the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher — a bird species common to the Central Texas Hill Country — the WL-14 Scissortail is a special edition WL-14 that pays homage to the "Oriole" guitars produced by Kalamazoo between 1940 and 1942. Built with maple back and sides and vintage-inspired X-bracing, the Scissortail brings excellent projection and focus to the flagship WL-14 series while retaining its woody, characteristic tone. A natural finish coupled with distinctive tortoise-style binding sets this instrument apart from other WL-14 models, along with an original Scissortail decal applied to the headstock in true-to-era fashion. Hardshell TKL case included.
