Sound Pure's Take
Yes, yes, yes! I started dreaming of an all-hog Waterloo the first time I played their flagship model, the WL-14. And here she is, better than I could have ever expected--and in the always-powerful 12 fret configuration no less! Woody and punchy, of course, but the X-bracing in this model also manages to coax out some of that wonderful sweetness and warmth, particularly in the mids and highs, that mahogany can offer. If you're long entrenched or just now making your way into blues of the Country or Piedmont varieties, ragtime, folk, etc., you're going to have to check this out. And hey, if you just need something to bring along on your travels, you won't find a more soulful road guitar!

From Collings Guitars
There’s nothing quite like the sound of an all mahogany guitar. With its warm yet crisp tone and even note articulation, mahogany has been a go-to tone wood for country, blues and folk guitarists throughout the last century.
The new WL-12 Mahogany harkens back to the “Dust Bowl” era of simple and affordable instruments that reflected the elemental need for music in tough and trying times. Often accompanied by only boot stomps, the instruments that inspired the WL-12 needed to be punchy and full, but compact and easy to travel with. The comfortable and lightweight WL-12 is designed with these qualities to be a musical companion in just about any circumstance, and brings the soulful and unadorned character of 1920s and 30s instruments forward to today’s musicians. Built by hand with love and care, each Waterloo is made of all solid tone woods one at a time in Austin, Texas.
