What We Think

For the better part of twenty years, the Tama Starclassic line has been a staple for musicians of all levels. The Starclassic Bubinga adds to the growing family and brings a new sonic richness at an affordable price. These 9-ply Bubinga shells have incredibly powerful and well-balanced sound with solid attack and rich, resonant lows. An upgrade in this line of drums is the Linear Drive Strainer and MLS50B Detachable Butt Plate. The snare side head can be removed without completely removing the snares wires and tension settings. Another great upgrade not previously seen are the Hold Tight Washers that will not come loose from vibration. The Tama Starclassic Bubinga delivers true exotic looks and sound at a tremendous value.

Manufacturer's Description from Tama

In the '80s TAMA's Superstars and Imperialstars reigned supreme - the perfect drums for the times. But TAMA's builders and designers wanted something that transcended trends, something timeless - drums that understood a player's passion and allowed the expression of every genre, style, mood, and technique. They created Starclassic drums...and ignited the thin-shell revolution. And now the new Exotic Finish line offers beautiful, one-of-a-kind exotic wood exteriors for that extra luxurious touch.

Starclassic Bubinga offerings now include an Exotic Finish line which feature extraordinarily beautiful exotic wood finishes, in addition to the regular lacquer finishes. Their shells are made slightly thicker than those in the Starclassic Maple series to provide a more aggressive attack, a fuller deep and dark tone, and more powerful resonance.
Numerous options are available to meet the varied and critical needs of professional drummers including a selection of more than 30 different shell sizes. Starclassic Bubinga also features two shell hardware finishes to choose from: black nickel and chrome. Starclassic Bubinga is simply an unprecedented combination of sight and sound.

About Manufacturer

For over forty years, Tama has been an industry leader in professional drums and drum hardware. Their concerted effort to create high-quality products has given enthusiasts and professionals a wide variety of product options.

The Tama name is derived from the first name of founder Yositaro Hoshino’s wife, Tama Hoshino. "Hoshino" translates to "star field." That's the origin of the star theme that unifies the entire Tama product line — from their entry-level Imperialstar drums and popular Starclassic series to their top-of-the-line Star series drums.

Tama's innovations can be found in their entry-level sets all the way up to their professional Star series drums. The Starclassic line has been producing premium shell drums like maple, birch, andbubingawith exquisite finishes for over two decades. Their patented Starcast Mount and Star Mount have continued to improve tone and aesthetics without sacrificing quality.

Their high-performance hardware has been one of the most trusted names for quality and durability since 1977 when they bought a portion of the Camco company. Today, the Iron Cobra and Speed Cobra lines have multiple options for players with a variety of needs.

Whether you are after drums or hardware, Tama continues to be one of the best companies when it comes to getting the most for your money.
