What We Think
This used but not abused Tama Starphonic Brass Snare Drum has a 1.2mm nickel-plated brass shell that provides optimal resonance and substance. This drum also features the quick release freedom lug, claw hook, and grooved hoop for rapid drum head changes and enhanced tone. The linear drive strainer with calibrated ratchet style tension adjustment knob makes precision tuning simple. The Tama Starphonic brass snare includes super sensitive hi-carbon snappy snares and a detachable butt plate for quick snare and head changes.

Solid sound; full projection; rich, resonant tone; tight, crisp snare response…these were the objectives Tama strived for in creating Starphonic drums. In order to achieve this, they developed a concept that incorporates entirely new hoop, lug, and strainer designs, combined with a variety of uniquely constructed drum shells. STARPHONIC snare drums are the result of three years of detailed research and precise testing.
A slightly thicker 1.2mm brass shell and new Grooved Hoop gives this drum rich, warm resonance and sharp projection. This drum has an exceptionally wide frequency and tuning range, allowing for great sonic variety simply by adjusting the tuning and snappy snares. With such versatility, this is a drum that will complement any musical style or playing situation.
