Sound Pure's Take

Weight: 7.7 lbs.

Not only is this one of the more uniquely gorgeous Moderns I've seen (thanks to the incredible spalted maple top), this is also one of the most versatile. With an H-S-H pickup configuration, a 5-way toggle and a push-pull control on the tone knob, this guitar has nearly every tone you can dream of.

This guitar excels in so many areas and is just as comfortable in a demanding modern jazz/fusion setting as it is with cape-flowing-in-the-wind soaring high gain lead tones and anything in-between. The overwound SSH+ pickup in the bridge brings tight, percussive chugs for metal players and the SSV allows for a very expressive tone in a clean setting or with gobs of gain.

If you're looking for a guitar that nearly plays itself and can cover virtually every tone imaginable in a set - don't let this one pass you by!

With its sleek elliptical neck profile, balanced asymmetrical body, and innovative neck heel, the Modern delivers unmatched playability and comfort. Top quality wood selection and lustrous finishes make the Modern as stunning to look at as it is to play.

Quality tonewoods and Suhr pickups ensure the Modern is never short on tone. If the ultimate in performance and beauty is what you are after, look no further than the Suhr Modern.

Basswood:

Native to Asia, Europe, and North America, Basswood gained prominence as a favored tone wood for shredders in the 1980’s. It is light in color and weight with almost no grain pattern. It is best suited for solid colors or as a backing wood for a figured top. Basswood bodies have a fat, well-balanced tone that produces smooth sounds without any hard edges.
