From SPL

Enjoy the full tone up to heavy distortion of a ramped up amp (head) without breaching of the peace.

The Reducer is as simple as the name implies, it reduces the power output of your guitar or bass amp. This means that all sorts of amps, especially tube amps, can now be turn up to the fullest to get this full-sounding power amp distortion without of having to be loud.

The Reducer is connected between guitar/bass amp (head) and the speaker. At this stage, it converts the amp's electric power into heat.

The Reducer is like all SPL products made in Germany and sports hand-wired point-to-point wiring.

Features

 ♦ 200 Watts Power Soak

 ♦ Point-to-Point Handwired

♦ Suited for amps with 4, 8 or 16 ohms

 ♦ No sound degregation

 ♦ Reduces until full fade-out

Reduction

Reduction is stepwise in the first stages ( -3dB and -5dB), but it can then be adjusted continuously from -7dB down to almost infinity

Impedences

The Reducer is suited to work with almost any amp. It accepts load impedances of 4, 8 or 16 ohms that can be set with the switch on the front.

Passive and Neutral

Power reduction with resistors requires no additional power supply. The true ingenuity of the electronic design is a careful choice of passive components that do not deteriorate the sound. It took a long time to find the right parts to finally achieve a sound reproduction without the least influences on the frequency response. In that respect the Reducer is as neutral as can be.

Tonehunter

The Reducer is the third joint development co-operation after the Transducer and the Cabulator with the amp specialists Tonehunter from Cologne, Germany.
