This Slingerland 5x14 Chrome Over Brass snare is one of the classic snare sounds that influence many of today's designs for metal snares. Designed in part with the influence of the legendary Gene Krupa, this snare pops and sizzles with extraordinary articulation, but is also capable of a really fat backbeat thanks to the 8-lug design. It's in great condition with very little pitting. It has a few light scratches but still pretty fabulous for a 50 year old drum. The batter side side hoop has a small bend at the 1 o'clock position from the player's perspective right above the muffler dial. The batter side was recently re-headed with an Aquarian Studio-X and a fairly new set of Puresound snare wires.
