For our second bass build with Serek, we went with some exciting and unusual options from Jake's shop. This Midwestern 2 in handsome Faded Black comes in at a very playable Medium Scale (32") and features a Guild BS-1 Bisonic pickup in the neck, and Serek's B-90 in a stacked configuration for more hum-cancelling goodness and increased punch.

We can get it fast!
Because of our special relationship with Serek we can get this as fast, or faster than anyone in the industry. In some cases, we even have preferred build slots we can offer you.

In our first order from Serek, we decided to take advantage of some of the options Jake and his shop offer that you just don't see anyone else doing. Starting with the 32" "Medium" scale. If you love the idea of a shorter scale instrument, but have always found true short scale basses a little too cramped, this one is just right. Short enough to make it easy and fun to navigate the neck, but comfortable enough to make you question whether it's shorter at all! With both coils selected, the sound is even, detailed, with just a little warmth and growl. Jump down to the bridge pickup and you've got plenty of treble and clarity on tap without losing the bottom, engage the Bisonic pickup in the neck and bathe in the glow of classic Gibson EB growl and thickness. In every position, this Midwestern 2 has a really singing, musical, voice to it that will make you want to play just about any line or lick you know!
The Midwestern 2 takes a more modern approach than its sibling, the original Midwestern bass. Updates include a sleek new design with body contours and a lower cutaway for full access to 21 frets. The Midwestern 2 is made up of a lightweight Mahogany body and the same 30.5″ scale Mahogany set neck found on the Midwestern. This bass can also be made in 32” scale, and with either 4 or 5 strings for those looking to extend their sonic range. Pickup options are endless, but I find this bass tends to enjoy a more versatile, 2-pickup configuration such as our Serek Singles!
Serek Basses has a unique way of blending old school and new school to create a fresh looking bass that remains rooted in the instrument’s history. Hand-built right here in Chicago, a Serek bass is a true player’s instrument. With rock solid construction and only the best quality components, Serek instruments stand in a class all of their own.
