We wanted to combine Jake's Midwestern 2 with some of the style and tone of another of our favorite bass players famous Dakota Red Musicmaster bass. The result is an absolute killer. Curtis Novak's Musicmaster pickup is, at it's core, a precision bass pickup. Plenty of midrange presence and fundamental thump comes blasting out of this little bass.

SP Luthier Notes: Fret Dress and Setup

The Midwestern 2 takes a more modern approach than its sibling, the original Midwestern bass. Updates include a sleek new design with body contours and a lower cutaway for full access to 21 frets. The Midwestern 2 is made up of a lightweight Mahogany body and the same 30.5″ scale Mahogany set neck found on the Midwestern. This bass can also be made in 32” scale, and with either 4 or 5 strings for those looking to extend their sonic range. Pickup options are endless, but I find this bass tends to enjoy a more versatile, 2-pickup configuration such as our Serek Singles!
