This instrument is obviously inspired by the guitars built by Doug Irwin for Jerry Garcia. The Wolf and Tiger are two iconic instruments that have always inspired and crept into the design and features that are in many of the Walker guitars. The idea with the Revelator is to take both of those instruments and combine certain features, like the Ergonomics of the Wolf (outline, scale, pickup placement, strap button placement, etc) but with certain construction elements that are prominent in the Tiger guitar (top carve and wood combo).
One of Scotts own added feature is the tapered neck laminates. This aligns the main portion of the neck (maple in the one pictured) to be straight and have continuous grain down the whole length of the neck. The tapered laminates are a modern construction technique and gives the instrument a more refined aesthetic.
The hardware used on the guitar is made in house by Scott (except tuners). Strap buttons, knobs, switch tips, cover plates, tailpiece, bridge and saddles are machined out of mostly brass or aluminum, and the saddles are stainless steel. The engraving is done by Scott and the last name on the battery plate is optional. There is no plating on the hardware, letting it age naturally and making it easy to touch up for years down the road. It is a brushed finish with a high quality wax to protect the surface.
Scott uses his own buffer and booster circuit in the guitar. The buffer is used for the Effects loop, for the low impedance signal. The booster is a simple JFET circuit that provides 0-6 DB of gain. The booster is activated with a toggle switch, and the gain is controlled with either a Knob on the guitar, or small trim pot on the circuit board.
