What We Think

This is a powerful beast. Dark and washy but complex with elements of what make the Artisans series popular but with a dryer deeper tone.

Manufacturer's Description from Sabian

Skillfully handcrafted at every step using elements of cymbal-making even the most traditional cymbal companies have abandoned, new 20" Artisan Elite cymbals take Artisan deeper, darker, dirtier. Tonally, drummers would not be far off the mark to consider them the "black sheep" of the Artisan family. Extensive multi-peen and high-density hammering are one of the factors that contribute to the Elite sound, resulting in a tone that is lower-pitched and drier than other Artisan cymbals. Their unique lathing and flatter, lower profile bell also result in woody bell tone that is more integrated into the overall cymbal sound than other Artisan models. 20" Artisan Elite also differ from other Artisan cymbals in appearance. With un-lathed traces of surface revealing tin oxide and other imperfections, they will appeal to drummers who like dirt and blemishes on their cymbals' a look that's perfectly coordinated with the dirt in the tone. SABIAN Artisan cymbals have always been masterpieces, pushing forward the art of cymbal making while delivering old-world sound. Artisan Elite are the latest cymbals from Sabian to deliver on the Artisan promise.

About Manufacturer

SABIAN was founded in 1981 when Robert Zildjian - one of the world's great names in cymbal making came to the conclusion that drummers needed a better choice of cymbals. Unsatisfied with the quality, the sound and the very relevance of the cymbals being manufactured at the time, he opened SABIAN in the small eastern Canadian village of Meductic, New Brunswick.

Since that time the SABIAN Vault has become a global center for cymbal and sound innovation. And that same SABIAN innovation has resulted in an unprecedented level of choice from the most diverse offering of cymbal design ever available. As a result, modern drummers and percussionists can choose from models that range from vintage to modern, from dark to bright, from traditional to downright eclectic.
