The thin steel shell lends to a bright, cutting tone, while the die-cast hoops serve to focus the sound with crisp, tight attack. The dual-tension snare strainer provides even more tonal focus by allowing the drummer to tension the snare wires from either side, leading to a tight, snappy snare tone.

The shell does feature some pitting from years of use, and there is one tension rod missing from the snare side. The snare wires, as well, could stand to be replaced, but the drum is in otherwise good physical condition.
